Aslak Solazar - a Lokarnos merchant-adventurer

 

Aslak was born in the magnificent city of Notchet.  His father was a trader.  Aslak also has an older brother, Makal, though Aslak did not get on very well with him.  Aslak did not go to school, but was instead educated by his Father.  He taught him all about trading, and also about  expeditions he had been on when he was younger.  Most importantly Aslaks' father taught him how to fight using a spear.

 

When Aslak reached the age of fourteen his mother died from an illness.  At this time Aslak's brother, who didn't take to trading, left Notchet to seek his rewards adventuring in Dragon Pass.  Aslak has not seen him since.

 

Soon after, Aslak and his father left Notchet to go on a trading expedition to Corflu.  When he got there he decided it was an opportunity for him compared to the overly saturated markets of Nochet and so he would stay.  His father left to journey back to Notchet and Aslak started up a trading stall.

 

Aslak spent three years trading in the cities of the Zola Fel Valley.  When he first came to Corflu he liked it because of the varied people who lived there.  Aslak felt he could do much better trading in the Zola Fel area then he could in the vast metropolis of Notchet.

 

Aslak also made several tranding expeditions to the city of Pavis, and it was while he was in Pavis that Aslak heard about the land of Zarlania.  He felt that this would be a good time in his to life to leave the hum-drum of city life and see the world.  Although his other motives, that of the vast wealth to be had there, also played a large part in his decision.

 

He left Corflu and joined a boat bound for Zarlania at the age of twenty.
